CHAPTER 01

Will's eyes shot open, and he sat up, knocking Jack's heavy arm off that had been resting tenderly around his waist. The cold night air sent chills down his sweating, naked body, and he groaned softly at the feeling of vulnerability that suddenly rushed upon him. Breathing deeply, he tried to calm the uneven beatings of his heart and strained efforts of his lungs.

Half-awaken by Will's sudden actions, Jack rolled over onto his back and let out a deep sigh. He looked up and saw nothing but darkness, save the faint silhouette of his love.

"Another one of your dreams, luv?" Jack questioned with the utmost sincerity and compassion as he brushed his right hand gently against Will's lower back.

"Don't touch me!" Will scowled without a thought and immediately felt guilty, "Jack...I'm..." He sighed frustratingly.

Jack recoiled his hand as if he'd touched fire. A look of shock and hurt rushed over his face, but the room was too dark for it to be visible. He pushed himself up, and leaned back quietly against the headboard of the bed, waiting for Will to continue. But the former blacksmith failed to continue. Silence filled the room, and for once Jack felt uncomfortable. It was unlike Will to bark at him, and more significantly, where was the apology that the boy would never fail to deliver -- no matter whose fault it was.

Will was too occupied mentally to even notice Jack -- to even care about the man who he had sweared his love to. Painful whispers. Painful whispers filled his head in his sleep, drowned his tears of joy, and sent him on the brink of insanity. They will never leave!

"I...I need..." Will clawed at the comforter with a certain sense of urgency and swung his legs over the bed.

"What is it, luv...?" Jack sat forward, with arms outstretched, not knowing what to do.

"I need to be alone," Will stated coldly, pulling a white shirt over his half-naked form, "You can't help me with this."

With a sudden leap, Jack reached out his right hand and clasped his strong hand around Will's left wrist, pulling him back onto the bed. "Luv...I know it's her that haunts your dreams. I hear ye screaming her name in your sleep these nights. I know...I understand...so luv...let me in..." Jack pulled the boy in close to his heart, trying to calm his love with his soothing voice and comforting hold. But the young former-blacksmith responded callously and shoved the captain away with all his might.

"Why don't ye believe me?!" Jack cried with anger and frustration, "I'll understand! I know ye still thinks about Elizabeth. I don't care. Are ye frightened I...I...I'll be...mad?! Is that it? If that is it..." he looked around the room, waving his arms like a madman, "then I swear upon the Pearl. I am not." He inhaled deeply trying to suppress the flowing of the wetness from his dark eyes.

Will sat on the edge of the bed with his face in his hands and back to the older man. Salty streams of tear started to escape from his eyes, down his cheeks and gather into his palms. He sniffled quietly.

"Oh," Jack was moved and crawled over to wrap his muscular arms around the younger man, "...my dear whelp." This time, Will let Jack touch him and even softened in his embrace. With more confidence, Jack kissed Will on the top of his he"I "I understand...ye loved her once. 'Tis normal for her to be scurrying around your mind, savvy? No need to fright..." He gently lifted Will's chin and stared sympathetically into those teary chocolate orbs before planting a gentle kiss upon the boy's silky lips that tasted salty from his streaming tears.

After a few subtle advances of the captain's velvet tongue, Will opened his lips to allow Jack to probe deeper. Jack's left hand roamed into Will's soft, brown tussled hair as his right hand found itself at the small of the young man's back. He slowly, as if not to frighten the boy, lowered both their bodies back onto the bed while planting feathery kisses around Will's throat and collarbone.

Will began to react, reaching his own hands behind the older man's head and pulling him closer to his own yearning body. He moaned as Jack began to suck harder and harder at his throat -- licking the tender spots every once in a while.

"I understand ye. Ye know I do luv..." Jack whispered into Will's neck, letting his hot breath send tingles down his lover's body. Soft moans escaped Will's slightly parted lips as he tried to fight off sensations. "I know she haunts your thoughts, luv..."

"...Jack..." Will moaned as he struggled lightly with no avail to stop the captain's advances. Jack unbuttoned the half-buttoned white shirt that stood between his own skin and that of his desired. Will tried to speak, but the moment he regained his conscious, he felt a hot, wetness circling his left nipple.

His mind started racing. He needed to speak. But the sensations were too much. While his mind fought for every moment to be rational and conscious, his body betrayed him -- coaxing him every moment to just give in to these sexual pleasures and forget about all the pain that had dwelled in him these past months.

Implausibly, his mind prevailed, and he was able to separate himself from his craving body -- the adrenaline pumping through his veins, the tightness in his pants, every pore of his skin screaming to be attended to.

"Jack..." the young man said with more poise and somewhat more force. The captain looked up at his love -- putting aside for a moment his primal urges to just plunge his manhood into the hot, tightness of his lover as they had done many times before -- with questioning eyes.

"Jack...I..." Will inhaled to steady himself. Jack loved him and he deserved to know, the young maoughought to himself. "She haunts my heart, Jack" His voice was so small, like a boy who was so ashamed of his actions and emotions that he would do anything to wash his conscience clean.

"...ye love her still...ye love her," Jack said, more as a statement to himself than a question for his love. He sat up on the bed, speechless -- his eyes glancing emptyly at the ground and his whole form slouching from this heavy emotional burden. "...do ye still love me, boy?" His voice cracked with sorrow and fright. He wanted an answer from the young man, yet he feared it all the same. Will was the only person he had truly loved. He would do anything to help him, to protect him, to love him...to keep him. If it meant giving up his Pearl, his life, the courageous captain would do it without a thought. How could his feelings be so strong for someone who possibly did not return his affections?

Will breathed shallowly, swallowing a help sob sob. The boy opened his mouth to speak, but no words came to his rescue -- he could not lie to Jack nor deny himself of the truth. He did not know. Jack raised his glance a little and peered desperately at him. The resentment and sadness that Will fathomed were in Jack's heart were too much for him to handle. He pulled together his shirt, scrambled off the bed, and stumbled out the door of the captain's quarter with eyes on the verge of tears.

Silence.

Jack let Will run out the door. Though the boy said nothing in reply. He had his answer. Silence was all he needed. Silence was what he'll forever feel.
