Prologue:

Silence. Silence is what my life has become…I feel nothing; the world is dark and cold surrounding me. All that I once knew and loved has left me…all but one thing. A memory if you will. My life was what you could call a dream, all those years ago…I had everything that a person could ever wish for…but in myve, ve, childish mind I was blind and never could see what was right in front of my face. I had everything, a home, a job, but most importantly I had a love. A love that would last a lifetime unfortunately for me, that lifetime was not to be my own.

I can still remember the night he died, as I held him tightly within my arms. He promised me that one-day we would meet again, yet I do not hold to that dream. I cannot, for it is, as it seems, impossible a dream that has forsaken me. Maybe before, in the past it might have one day become a reality but now I can no longer hold true to that wish as I find that I can no longer live…if living is what you would call my existence upon this earth, as I haunt from one place to another. But what does it matter? All that ends tonight as I stand before you…gun in hand, pointed at my head.

I have, since the death of my one true love, visited what’s left of the other family that I knew out side of that of my own. The woman is old now, she at one time I had considered like a sister to me, but long ago she betrayed that bond and like so many others in my life became only a child hood memory. Yet despite this, we still talk from time to time, though it is plain to see that we no longer respect each other and our visits are short and pained, as we both can see what has become of the other, and neither like the result. But that too will end now. Small pains of guilt flitter through my mind…but she will live at least she has children to help guide her on her way. I will not be missed.

Clicking off the safety I’m reminded of the last time I stood like this. It had been right after my lover had died, my heart shattered into a million pieces and spread out all over the world. I didn’t know where else to turn, yet something in the wind made ending my life at that moment impossible. Blanketed in warmth that I hadn’t felt in days, I felt the gun wrenched from my grasp, and I was forced to watch as it sank down into the dark blue depths of the Caribbean sea. He was with me then…my only hope was that this time he would let me finish the job that I had tried to start all those years ago.

Patting the smooth wooden wheel beneath my hand, I knew it was time. The lady I held in my grasp would understand, we had been through so much together. My lover too would understand. Turning starboard, I gave a nod, and thunder exploded around me as all that was left of my crew fired off several canons from the ship they now resided upon. Patting the lady again, I looked up towards the sky, “Jack, I’ll be with you soon, as will the Pearl.” Squeezing my finger around the trigger, I ended it all.

TBC????
