/...../ thoughts

* * *

Clad in a brown robe from head to toe, faced hidden in a curtain of shadow, Anakin Skywalker crept into Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Coruscant apartment. He hung his head over in shame to hide his uneasy gaze.

“My Master, I have failed you,” Anakin grieved, expressing his feelings, wearing them like the very robe that clung to his body.

Obi-wan mediated in silence, trying to bury what Anakin openly embraced. Emotions. Such feelings were supposed to be trained out of Jedi by years of arduous practice. To feel one’s feelings might lead to selfishness, and not caring about or serving others, going against what it meant to be a Jedi itself. A Jedi must remain detached, and not let his feelings rule him or he cannot fulfill his duty as a keeper of the peace.

/In his presence, I feel my feelings, I cannot hide them/ thought Obi-Wan to himself. He gave up on his meditation, standing to face his apprentice. “What are you saying, Anakin? You have become a far greater Jedi than I. Your greatness tells me you are the Chosen One, who will fulfill the Jedi prophecy by destroying the Sith and bringing balance to the Force.”

“No, Master, how can I? I’m confused.” Anakin shook his head, sighing deeply. He had befriended the Chancellor Palpatine, who asked him to be his eyes and ears of the Jedi Council, as the Chancellor appointed him as its representative. The Council distrusted Palpatine, beseeching young Skywalker to spy on him. Demands from both sides tore at Anakin’s soul, plunging him into chaos.

/I shouldn’t tell him this, but I don’t know what else to say/ thought Obi-wan. /If he denies what he feels, he may hurt himself even more/

“Anakin, search your feelings. They’ll tell you what to do,” Obi-Wan counseled his student. He lifted a tanned hand to the dark brown hood over Anakin’s face, pushing it back to reveal Anakin’s chiseled features.

Sweat coated the young Jedi’s face, its sheen noticeable on the bridge between his brows, furrowed together wrinkling the skin around. Anxiety consumed his mind. /I don’t know what my feelings tell me. I’m scared. My dreams tell me Padme might die. And I will loose all that I’m attached too/…

“The fear of loss is a path to the Dark Side. Anakin, train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose,” Yoda imparted to him before.

Anakin chided himself. /But I can’t! The more I want to let go, the more I want to hold on. Chancellor Palpatine told me only in embracing the Dark Side can I find the power to save her. But then I’d betray Master and the Jedi code: selflessness by serving others through the Light. How arrogant I’ve become!

“It’s wrong, Master,” Anakin sniffled, wiping the sweat off his face with the sleeve of his robe, his breathing labored and heavy.

With wavy brunette locks of hair brushed out of the way, Obi-Wan could see his face clearly, twisted with anguish and grief. “Anakin?” he said, settling down on the bed next to him with arms propped behind to hold him up.

“It’s also wrong to be selfish and want power,” Anakin added, finding it difficult to swallow, his throat choked with pain.

“Remember what Master Yoda said? The desire for power leads to the Dark Side of the Force. To help others is the Light Side. We must find that balance in the Force,” Obi-Wan said gently out compassion.

Anakin shrugged, turning away from his mentor. “I can’t. I’m not wise like you, Master.”

“Don’t say that, Anakin. I see great wisdom in you. I’ve passed down to you all I know through the ancient Jedi teachings,” Obi-Wan reassured him, looking up with a kind and tender smile.

“Why?” questioned Anakin. He faced his teacher again; drawing a few steps closer until only a foot divided them.

Obi-wan shifted his position to the edge of the bed, bent over with his arms on his knees.
He pondered deeply. /Anakin speaks about power. Those are thoughts of the dark side. I fear it may affect him, as the darkness has grown stronger. I want to save him from it. He means so much to me. When I think about him, the words of my late Master Qui-Gon come to mind. She once told me Love is the answer to the darkness. I cannot deny the truth/

He stood up and their eyes locked together. “You are like a brother to me, Anakin. I love you,” Obi-Wan admitted, expressing his emotions for once.

/I love you/ No one besides Padme told him that. So for those words he held her dear. Now he held Obi-Wan dear as well. Before this, Anakin never fathomed the deep feelings Obi-Wan harbored for him deep inside his heart. In return Anakin always held deep feelings towards his master, but buried them far within.

“Anakin?” Obi-wan called out, searching Anakin intently.

In the turmoil of his thoughts, Anakin struggled for clarity. /I never thought he loved me like this. But I feel differently and love him as more than just a brother. My feelings for him changed when I matured, becoming a man. The Force in me is drawn to the Force in him/

Obi-wan paused sensing the Force around Anakin change. Passion and doubt battled side-by-side vying for control of the young Jedi’s already turbulent heart. Anakin bit his lower lip to keep from crying out. He scolded himself. /I always let my feelings control me. That’s why I’m not a proper Jedi like Master Kenobi is/

If Anakin’s front teeth bit down any harder, he would of cut his lip and bled. Obi-wan saw this placing a finger on his chin. “Don’t hurt yourself, Anakin. Your well-being means everything to me.”

“Then let me have what I want,” demanded Anakin, grasping Obi-wan’s bearded gold face in his palms. Obi-wan paused seeing Anakin’s teeth flash white and lust burn in his bright blue eyes like fire.

Before Obi-wan could react further, Anakin closed his eyes and bent over, kissing Obi-wan on the lips. The Jedi master’s dark gold beard tickled Anakin as his mouth sank down into warm textured flesh. His hot, sticky tongue darted out, tracing Obi-wan’s parted lips. Obi-wan moaned softly as it left a wet trail in its wake leaving the licked skin cool and sensitive.

When Anakin broke the kiss, he flinched expecting a cruel hand from Master Kenobi to slap him across the face or send him reeling back with a mighty blow of the Force. His mentor did neither gazing back at Anakin with tranquil green orbs that loved him.
