I am attempting to rewrite parts of this story since I don’t like the way it’s going. Too Cutesie. I have also attempted to reformat the writing so it will be much easier to read. Some of the chapters have been joined together and some are longer than I planned and some shorter than I planned. Please bear with me.
Any and all reviews are welcome…good, bad, or indifferent.

CHAPTER 1
The night was quiet and still. The big ship drifted along the meager waves with ease under a brilliant full moon surrounded by a million stars.
Captain Jack Sparrow leaned against the helm of The Black Pearl and let out a deep sigh. “A Pirate’s Life For Me,” he hummed softly under his breath.
Captain Jack looked out over the sea before him thinking how much he loved the freedom, how much he loved being a pirate. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the look out calling to him from the Crow’s Next, “Captain, Captain, there’s a ship on the horizon”.
Jack took his spyglass from his pocket and peered out to the sea in front of him. Sure enough, there was a ship. He couldn’t quite tell how big it was from the distance, but no matter. It would still contain supplies and other trinkets of value that he and his crew could find and plunder their black hearts out.
“Hmmm, interesting,” Jack said to himself.
He lowered the spyglass and called out for his First Mate. “GIBBS…GIBBS, git yur self over here, we have something very interesting in sight.”
Gibbs had sailed under Captain Sparrow for several years and Jack had often referred to him as being his most loyal mate. “Yur more loyal than the day is long,” Jack had told him on more than one occasion.
“Aye, Captain,” Gibbs said to Jack when he arrived at his side.
Jack turned to him and with a gleam in his eye said, “We have a ship out ahead of us. Wake the rest of the crew and have them prepare to overtake her at first light.”
“Aye,” Gibbs replied with a half-hearted salute to his captain and friend.
Jack was what some would think of as rather unconventional in the manner of being a pirate, but he was very good at what he did. Over taking another ship in the dead of night was not something Jack was prepared to do. It was best to wait till daybreak, when you could at least see what you were getting yourself into.
Jack turned his attention back to the other ship.
There was a commotion behind him as the other crewmembers began to ready the Black Pearl for the morning’s plunder. “I’ll be in me cabin,” Jack said to Gibbs as he turned away from the helm.
Stopping shortly, Captain Jack raised one finger in the air.
“Almost forgot…” Jack’s eyes gleamed in the moonlight as he spun around on his heel and bent over to retrieve the half filled bottle of rum he had left sitting on the deck next to the helm.
“NOW, I’ll be in me cabin,” he repeated to Gibbs.
Gibbs smiled as Jack turned again and swaggered off in the direction of his quarters.
Jack arrived at his cabin and turned the doorknob. It wasn’t locked, but then the captain shouldn’t have to worry about such things.
That was one of Jack’s unconventional things, he trusted his crew. He had always believed in “Honor among Thieves”, and no one in his crew had ever given him reason not to trust them. At least not in THIS crew.
Jack stepped inside the room and closed the door behind him. His mates would take care of everything for in the morning. The only thing Captain Jack Sparrow was interested in at the moment was drinking his rum as he tipped the bottle end up. A long draw on the bottle and it was almost empty.
Jack lowered the bottle and let out a deep “Ahhhhhh,” then burped loud enough to wake the mates trapped in Davy Jones locker. “Yo Ho,” Jack said out loud and smiling.
He walked over to his full size bed and plopped himself down.
Jack had the largest cabin on the ship, which is how it should be, being the captain and all. There was a big wooden desk on the other side of the room. Papers and maps of all kinds were scattered about the top of the desk. You could tell this rustic old room belonged to a man. The scent of rum and the salt for the sea air filled the room.
Except for the occasional tumble with one of the local whores from Tortuga, never had a woman stayed here longer than a couple of hours.
Jack closed his yes and drifted off to sleep thinking about the ship they would board in the morning, wondering what wonderful treasure he might find.
