The Black Riddle
Prologue
Every firstborn girl in the noble and most ancient house of Black had always been schooled thoroughly in the arts of war. Bellatrix was an exception. As the youngest of the Black women she was never supposed to have touched a blade, but talent was not to be wasted. Walburga Black had taught Bellatrix from she was 5 years old, but she was a fast learner and soon there was nothing more her aunt could teach her. At the age of ten, the Dark Lord asked to tutor her and had taken her under his wing, in more ways than one. She was like the daughter he never had. He saw her potential and trained her in the dark arts, combat with and without weapons, wandless magic and other useful tricks that could easily save her life. Some of these useful ‘tricks’ had been the arts of delusion, manipulation, seduction the insight to someone’s mind
She was his daughter in all but blood. She knew his soft sides, the gentleness no one else knew of. She looked to him as she would her own father, had he ever been around. She would stay at Slytherin Castle for moths at the time and most of the summers when she began school. He had not taught her everything that she would learn in school because he did not want her to be completely bored as she would have to be there anyway. She could not practice the dark arts in school because of the wards, but she would spend all her time honing her skills in weaponry.
At the age of eighteen, at the day of graduation she had been given the news of her own engagement to Rodolphus Lestrange. Because of her parents amazing ability to ‘forget’ to inform Bellatrix of her upcoming wedding, she was now due to be wed the very next day. She was not happy, and her unhappiness is what leads us to the present.
