Operation Fist Hug
‘So, I guess we’ll see each other next year?’ Will was sitting on the fence looking at his own feet, trying to keep the small conversation going between him and Warren.
‘I guess so.’ None of them were moving. Their meeting had been random, Will was waiting for Leila and Warren was just finished at work, their small greeting lead to them on the fence, trying to converse together. Will was the first one to brake beneath the long silence this time. ‘If you don’t have anything special to do during the summer you can always come over to my place.’ Quickly he bit his own lip; that sounded horribly wrong, it sounded like he was referring to his dad being in solitary.
‘Relax Stronghold; if you look like that every time you invite someone over I wouldn’t be surprised if you never had anyone over.’ He was just about to open his mouth but closed it, the next thing he wanted to say was not better than the first thing, I was just trying to be nice it seemed that everything he tried to say were the wrong thing, this day was far from perfect.
‘Just trying to be nice.’ Damn, it still escaped him.
‘You don’t have to.’
‘I know, but I can’t help it.’
‘Let’s take this friendship thing slow, I know things changed really fast now at the end but let’s at least take this slow, don’t really think I’m ready for the whole sleepover and hugs friendship.’
‘Boy’s don’t really hug.’
‘Is that so?’
‘Yes, I think it’s some kind of rule. It’s okay when you are young, but when you grow older it’s either your girl friend or your parents you hug, siblings goes under that category too.’
‘Guess I’ll never hug anyone then.’ Will wasn’t sure what Warren meant by that, and he was really unsure if it was safe to ask, were they really that close? He took the chance, worst scenario was that he would get burned, literally.
‘What do you mean by never hug anyone?’ Warren didn’t seem too pleased, but gave in anyway.
‘Never received a hug by anyone when I was young, my mother was never around and my father, the same. So I don’t think I will ever receive any hugs from them in the future either. The same for siblings, since I’m an only child; and girlfriend, you’ll never see one of those around me.’
‘Don’t say that, I bet that somewhere out there is a girl waiting for you, just as mean and evil as you.’
‘Thanks Stronghold. But I would watch it if I were you, we’re not good friends yet.’
‘What can I say; danger is my middle name.’ There was another silence; Will was watching the birds that flew through the air when Warren talked.
‘How does it feel?’
‘What?’ Will turned around to face Warren, he was looking down at his own shoes.
‘To hug someone.’
‘Oh.’ That question was a surprise, and Warren letting his guard down like that and asked was a greater surprise. Will felt a little flattered that Warren trusted him enough to ask him. ‘It depends on who you hug. If it’s my father then you’ll probably break a couple of bones.’ He stopped up to try and remember how it really feels like to be hugged. ‘I don’t know how to explain it. If you feel down a hug can help; the same with happy feelings, the situation is better then.’ Another pause, he didn’t think his words made any sense. ‘Don’t really know how to explain.’
‘Okay.’ Will saw that Warren was emotional, this wasn’t that easy subject for him. Will never liked it when his parents would hug him, it was embarrassing; but to never have hugged anyone, no wonder he was so angry all the time.
‘Hey, if you want then I can show you.’ Warren turned his eyes up and meet Will’s, he could swear they had changed the last few seconds, to something softer.
‘No, there are rules against it, remember?’
‘I think it can be okay if it’s for scientific reasons.’
‘So now I’m an experiment?’ He wasn’t angry, but Will could never know when he would suddenly throw fire.
‘In a way, since you never have hugged anyone before.’ Warren didn’t say a word; this was probably something he hadn’t imagined doing at all.
‘You’ll never tell anyone?’
‘No, and I hope you won’t either.’ Warren slowly shook his head. Will wasn’t sure how to do this, usually his mother would only grab him and hug him, but planning it was difficult. He jumped of the fence where he was sitting and took one step in front; Warren did the same ting and they ended up standing inches away from each other. This was not the first time Will was standing close to Warren, but never before would it lead to a hug. ‘It starts by embracing, and then we just hold each other; that’s the basic of hugging.’ Will opened his arms and waited till Warren did the same thing, slowly he moved forward and closed his hands around Warren. Because of the difference in height he was embracing Warren’s waist. As he felt a pair of hands closed around him he had to bite his lower lip to not gasp at the sensation, he was becoming excited at the soft side of Warren.
‘This is a hug?’ Warren was right, it wasn’t much of a hug really; they almost didn’t touch at all.
‘Well, usually we hold each other tighter, almost squishing but not entirely.’ He was surprised to feel that Warren was the one taking the lead, their bodies was now pressed against each other and Will could feel Warren’s chest move as he was breathing.
‘And now?’ Will was almost startled by Warren’s voice, he wasn’t expecting him to continue. His head tilted back so he could get a view of Warren, he was doing the same thing, looking at Will.
‘It depends on what has happened, if something bad or sad has happened then we usually close our eyes and hold each other till we feel better.’ He closed his eyes and tried not to think about the one he was hugging, this was wrong but it was quite nice. He finally found a way to relax when the hands holding him started to squeeze and move around, making him gasp in surprise. His eyes flew open and he turned his head over to see what Warren was doing, only to meet a pair of dark brown eyes that was flashing red fire a couple of times. At first Will thought Warren would put him on fire but that thought vanished by what happened next. Warren was lowering his head to Will’s, making him gasp in surprise. Everything seemed to move slowly, it was probably the fear of what would happen. When his own lips were touched by Warren’s he moaned. His reaction brought him back and he tripped on his own feet while trying to back off from the other boy; but since Warren was holding him he joined him in his fall.
‘Oh God.’ Will tried to free himself from Warren’s body weight but gave up.
‘I’m so sorry; I don’t know what came over me.’ Warren lifted himself up so he wouldn’t lie completely on Will, but that placed him in another awkward position. Realizing what their position indicated Warren got up, not even offering to help Will up. Will tried to look at Warren when he stood, but every time he tried his face warmed up
‘I should go.’ Warren didn’t look back as he turned a corner, Will stood there and was both surprised at what just happened and angry that Warren didn’t even look at him as he left. It took him another minute to process the reality of what happened, Warren had kissed him, and he moaned.
‘Hey there.’ He was brought out from his thoughts when Leila appeared in front of him. ‘I saw Warren down the street, he was acting really strange, didn’t even greet me. Do you know what could have happened?’
‘No, why should I.’ He realized he was jumpier than usual, but he didn’t want her to find out what jut had happened.
‘Okay, if you say so. Let’s go, you must have been bored while waiting.’ Will followed Leila as they walked over to Zack before they would head over to see a movie.
-ooOoo-
A/N: My first try at ‘Sky High’, loved that movie from the first time I saw it.
I am so sorry if I made Warren seem like a wimp, I just started to write and got the idea after hat Warren said about being good friends and hugging.
I am unsure if I want to continue this, not sure if I’m good at their relationship, but I may give it a try.
